Why the name Pamplemousse?

When i was really really young I went to Paris with my mum and her best friend who at the time was like my third parent. She heard the word Pamplemousse somewhere (French for grapefruit) and thought it was so funny and cute and became really obsessed with calling me her 'Petit Pamplemousse'. When I was trying to think of a name for the brand it was the first thing that came into my head and I think it fits pretty well. Fruit always seems to have some kind of connection with the sensual side of the human body, and also just the shape and form of a grapefruit - how it's curved and all soft and pink on the inside. Plus it's just a really nice word to say.

When you put the lingerie on, how does it make you feel and how do you want others to feel?

I guess my first thought is how comfortable it is. The pain of uncomfortable underwear can totally ruin your day if it's not right, so the fact that it's comfortable instantly makes me feel amazing and in fact a lot of the time I forget i'm actually wearing any.

And then after that I would say it makes me feel more confident and sexy but not overtly sexy. That's pretty much what i'm going for with my designs. I want them obviously to be sexy but still playful. They should be pieces that you can be comfortable wearing as everyday underwear that can transition into more nighttime lingerie pieces if that's what you want. I think the main point is that it's playful and not taking itself too seriously. Sometimes I feel like lingerie can try too hard to be 'sexy' and I know whenever i've tried going that route I just feel like i'm not being myself.

‍Would you ever make lingerie for men?

YES!

I made my boyfriend a pair of silk pants as a bit of a joke gift and they actually turned out to be one of my favouritest things I've ever made. I loved them so much I ended up making a couple more for some close friends and they're all super into them. I would loooove love love to make more! I think 'straight' men's underwear is so boring and it really is a shame for them to miss out, and seeing my boyfriend be so excited about a pair of underwear has inspired me to do more.

I always used to wear really nice lingerie but as soon as it gets to the sexy time the underwear would be taken off too quickly and this would leave me unfufilled. I guess what Im asking is do you think lingerie should play a bigger role in foreplay?

Hmm, I know exactly what you mean and feel the same way almost every time I'm wearing nice underwear. I think it can definitely play a bigger role. What's nice about the bras I make is they all have ribbon straps which tie - or untie - over the shoulder, so you can play around with those. They also all open/close at the front, which from my experience always seems to get a good reaction if there's someone else involved. I think this is also what's nice about men having nice underwear, because usually they don't understand how good underwear can make you feel and so for them it's just not even on their minds. But after giving my boyfriend some for a while he wouldn't stop looking at his bum in the mirror and so now I think he appreciates some good lingerie. (I hope he's not annoyed about me sharing that lol)

But I will say, if you really can't get the fulfillment you want at the point of undressing, I believe even just wearing really nice, comfortable, sexy underwear already just changes your whole mood and makes you feel so good about yourself. From the beginning Pamplemousse was a brand for the wearer. The point of it is to make YOU feel good and like what YOU see in the mirror, not for anyone else looking - that's just an added bonus. I also like to think that some of the pieces are also good for just wearing with a regular outfit so you can show them off that way.
